Chatsworth Road Market

Yesterday, my first Mother's Day, we visited the Chatsworth Road Market in E5 near the Homerton Hospital. The market now takes place every fortnight on a Sunday.

It's a nice place for a family outing as it is not as busy as some of the other weekend markets in East London such as Broadway or Columbia Road.  For instance - you can take your pram with you - something that is almost impossible at the busier markets.  Also you can quite easily find a seat at a cafe, and the queues are almost non-existant.

There is a nice selection of food stalls; we tried a chorizo and salad bap for £3.50, and a delicious but overpriced okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) for £4.00. There are some great local cafes too. There are also lots of antique and vintage stalls, an organic vegetable stall and craft, such as cushions and soap.

I think there is room for growth at the market.  They could do with a few more bread stalls as well as more fruit and veg in my opinion (Mumpreneurs out there - I think there is an opportunity!).  If you would like to set up a stall at the market the information on how to go about this is on the market's website and also via the market team at London Borough of Hackney.

Enjoy this peace and spaciousness while you can, because it is only a matter of time before this lovely little market becomes the place to go on a Sunday. In fact, I think it already is.
